Why Visit Niagara Falls

The area's rich history dates to the War of 1812, with surviving heritage architecture along the Niagara Parkway. Beyond the Horseshoe Falls, discover the Sir Harry Oakes Garden Theatre's serene Art Deco design. This deep heritage is part of what is Niagara Falls famous for.

The Niagara River plunges 51 meters at Horseshoe Falls, a focal point of top attractions in Niagara Falls. Explore the Niagara Gorge, home to unique flora, and the quiet Dufferin Islands. Conclude your day with the mesmerizing nightly illumination of the Falls, a striking view from Queen Victoria Park.

Discovering the local culinary scene is among the best reasons to visit Niagara Falls. The region is famed for its award-winning Icewine. Seek out fresh peach pies in late summer, visit farm stands along the Niagara Parkway, and celebrate regional flavors at the annual Niagara Grape and Wine Festival.

The falls hit different in person

No photo or video comes close to standing at the railing with all that mist in your face. Horseshoe Falls is just massive. The whole area along Niagara Parkway is really well kept and easy to walk. Totally worth it.

Great winter visit, way less crowded

Coming in winter was honestly the right call - wait, scratch that. Coming off-season was the right call. The falls actually freeze partially and it looks unreal. Table Rock was right there with almost no one around. So peaceful and dramatic at the same time.

Kids absolutely loved it

We brought the whole family and everyone had a blast. The Journey Behind the Falls was a big hit with the kids - they couldn't stop talking about it. Clifton Hill is a bit touristy but the little ones loved all the lights and activity. Good memories all around.

So much more than just the waterfall

We expected to see the falls and leave but ended up staying way longer. The Niagara-on-the-Lake day trip was gorgeous and the local ice wine is something you really need to try. Sweet, smooth, nothing like regular wine. The whole region has a lot going on.

Perfect summer stop

The place comes alive in summer. Hornblower boat cruise gets you right up close to the falls and you WILL get soaked, so embrace it. The mist, the roar, the sheer size of it - nothing prepares you. Queen Victoria Park is beautiful to just sit and take it all in too.

Yuki T. - Tokyo, Japan - August 3, 2025

Stunning light show at night

Nobody told me they light up the falls at night and wow. We went after dinner and it was packed but still magical. The colors change and reflect off all that moving water - looked almost fake it was so beautiful. Definitely do both day and night if you can.
